The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) is a Cambridge-based, not for profit charity dedicated to making the internet a safer place by detecting, removing, and disrupting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online. We search for CSAM and offer a place for the public to make reports anonymously.

Every report we receive is meticulously reviewed by our expert Hotline analysts, and if the content is criminal, we ensure its swift removal. In 2024 alone, we identified and took action against 290,000 web pages showing at least one, and often tens, hundreds, or thousands, of images and videos of child sexual abuse.

To do this effectively, we develop bespoke technology, services, products and datasets to our members to prevent the imagery from being reshared. We also work closely with law enforcement, governments, NGOs and strategic partners, who trust our work.

We develop groundbreaking campaigns, including Think Before You Share, which was informed by recent research conducted by IPPPRI. The campaign aims to help young people understand the harm of sharing explicit images and videos of themselves and others, and encourage parents and educators to start timely conversations with children and young people.

To find out more about our campaign, and what the evaluation conducted by IPPPRI showed, listen to Emma Hardy, Angela Munoz Aroca, and Sarah Colley present on 'Talk about awkward: the Think Before You Share campaign and evaluation’ on day 2 of the conference.
